PASSION FOR TWO-WHEELS - HOW IT ALL BEGANIt all started in 1978, when getting new replacement parts for the bikes was a huge challenge and took longer than we were willing to expect. During a summer vacation, I got a part-time job to earn enough money to buy a bucket of polyester resin, which at the time cost the equivalent of € 90. As soon as I managed to collect that money, the school had just started and the resin would have to wait until the Easter holidays. At that time, the resin had no value, so I decided that the only thing I could do was take a chance on “mass production” of mudguards and then try to sell them. Imagine 300 wings spread across my garage and the garden. A valuable memory. I contacted the stores where I used to go to buy the plastic parts and they were very interested in the products I showed them. The first orders appeared. The business was established! Focused on this vision and passion for motorcycles, I started to manufacture fiberglass molds. In Spain he bought the pieces, in Portugal he made replicas of the molds he manufactured 1978 was the year that the company started producing motorcycle parts, and it was these that transformed Polisport into an international brand. In 1988, the first bicycle accessories left the production line. First the bicycle chairs, followed by fenders, drums and helmets for the next eight years. Nowadays, each new project is carried out with the same joy and enthusiasm as those memorable bike and off-road bike tours. No matter how hard it takes, we know that this is the approach that will give us the satisfaction of reaching our goals. Since the beginning our company has grown to very high standards and so I am sure that we will continue. It is part of our DNA. Several times throughout its history, Polisport has innovated, learned, competed and achieved. And so it will continue to do. Pedro Araújo CEO & President |
