Dov'è il prossimo .... Con The Iron Butt Rider

“Hello, my name is Kyr from The Iron Butt Rider project, and I am doing a motorcycle tour around the world with my father.”

The first time we spoke with The Iron Butt Rider, and learned about the adventure that father Sérgio and his son Kyr were willing to face, we immediately knew that we wanted to be part of the adventure. It was “love at first sight”.
We asked how the around the world idea came about, Kyr was enlighted us about what really motivated them.

get in touch with different cultures and test myself in different situations. When I was 17 years old, I dreamed about doing so on a bicycle, but then I realized that a motorcycle is a much better idea. We both like extreme conditions, such as never sleeping in a hotel, being fully autonomous for some days, only depending only on ourselves in terms of mechanics and maintenance. So, in some way, we don't think this is a big adventure. It's just an exciting trip that could be even longer and more challenging“

What can make a father and son trip around the world even more fascinating? No plans, the only rules of the trip were that they couldn't sleep in hotels, and can't eat in restaurants. The main purpose of the trip was definitely to get out of their comfort zone.

The Verdon Gorge was the first stop on Sergio and Kyr's adventure on a 23000km journey that covered 23 countries in 4 months. The first part of the round-the-world trip will connect Lisbon - Ulan Buator - Milan. Today we show you the first point of great interest, The Verdon Gorge, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of Southeastern France, a magnificent place.

1. Pont du Galetas

Does this sounds familiarg? Not a surprise, as this is the image you can find everywhere when you searching for the Gorges du Verdon. Astride the departments of Alpes de Haute Provence and Var, the Pont de Galetas (The Galetas Bridge) offers one of the most famous views in the world! The reason for this is that you can go there by car or walk to see the end of the canyon, where the Verdon river meets the lake of Sainte-Croix. Magical, isn’t it?

2. Route des Gorges

You can drive up the mountain and travel part of the panoramic route through paths full of curves with other viewpoints and interesting places. The Route des Crêtes is the most recommended route, but there are others with great spots to admire the view, such as Point Sublime and Balcon de la Mescla.

3. Historic Little Villages

There are several gorgeous little villages around Gorges du Verdon. Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is the most interesting and sought after, located high up in the mountain, but many people also visit Aiguines and Palud-sur-Verdon.
