Polisport has been awarded with the
PME-Innovation prize, attributed in a partnership between COTEC and BPI Bank,
and having as media sponsor Público newspaper.
The trophy was given on the 4th meeting of the
PME Innovation Network and it was highlighted with the presence of Aníbal
Cavaco Silva, the President of the Republic of Portugal.
On the previous year, Polisport had already
been greeted with an Honourable Mention at the 2009 PME-Innovation award and,
this year, it has received the highest recognition attributed to Portuguese
companies that are perceived as referential in technological aspects, among all
the Portuguese entrepreneurial community.
The President of the Republic mentioned that
"small to medium-sized innovative companies (PMEs) are one the most
powerful forces in the transformation of society.
The contribution of such companies is the only
path towards the consolidation of a new model for Portuguese economy",
putting into context the role of the PMEs within our national productive
workforce.
Artur Santos Silva, President of the Jury of
the PME-Innovation COTEC award and a member of the Administration Board of the
BPI Bank, explained that Polisport achieved one of the highest Innovation Score
levels among the participant companies, demonstrating a superior capability in
the implementation of processes and to take decisions that influence the
effectiveness of technological innovation, with significant profits in its
results.
For the first time, a company related to the
earliest stages of production of accessories for the "two-wheels"
industry is recognized within its territory for its capabilities on
technological innovation.
In this field, Polisport embraced a leading
role on the "two-wheels" market, through the production of plastic
parts using the IPD patented technology, which has made it possible for the
fusion of graphics in several components to become a reality. This technology
has paved the way to the supplying of innumerable parts for the main European
motorbike manufacturers such as BMW, KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas and Suzuki
(Europe), to name some.
COTEC is an entrepreneurial association founded
in 2003 with the main goal of promoting the competitiveness while using the
practice of a creative and innovative culture among companies that are
established in Portuguese territory and that gathers, to this day, 141
associated members.
