Davy Pootjes of the Hannamax KTM Team has won the third round of the UEM 85cc series in Halle, the Netherlands last weekend. In the muddy circumstances he managed to win both motos. With these results he is the new leader in the championship as well.
Davy posted the fastest lap time in his group in the practice sessions on Saturday. In his qualifying heat he took the holeshot and won the race with a big advantage over the second place rider.
In the first moto Davy took a good start and was leading in the beginning of the race. In the middle of the race he got a lot of pressure from the second place rider. Davy decided to let him by to learn from his lines. Just when he started to put the pressure on the leader, the leader crashed so Davy took over the lead again. With still two laps to go he took no unnecessary risks anymore and won the race.
In the second moto he took the holeshot and was riding lap times which were a lot faster than the rest of the field. When he had a gap of seventeen seconds over the second place rider he had to throw away his goggles. The second place rider came a little bit closer but after a few laps Davy started to pull away again and managed to win the race.
With a double moto win he took the overall in Halle. With these results he took over the lead in the UEM 85 Series. Round four of the series will be held in Bielstein, Germany this weekend.
