Luis Correia, the 2011 National Motocross Champion
In the fifth round Championship Motocross National, held in the Azores island of São Miguel, the Yamaha/ Speedcity / Polisport rider, Luis Correia managed two victories that assured him, with one round to go, the National Championship Class Elite and National Champion Motocross MX1 titles.

On a day with good weather for the sport and the track in good conditions, Correia began by securing pole position in qualifying with a the fastest lap of the class with 1m and 45s.

In the first moto, MX1, Correia pulled in front and completely dominated the entire race. In the end he finished over 26 seconds ahead of second place finisher, Sandro Marcos.
The next moto was the Elite class one. Luis did not start in front , but by the third lap he had managed to ascend to the leadership of the race, keeping a safe distance  until the arrival of the checkered flag. With this victory, and taking into account that the rules dictate that each pilot will throw away the worst result of the final accounts of the score, Correia won both championships, Elite and MX1, this all before the last race the National Championship.
At the end Luis Correia was delighted with both titles achieved: "I have accomplished my objectives for this season This meant hard work and I am overjoyed to achieve this titles". Correia  now has 10 national titles in their list of successes which, at 25 years of age, is indicative of his value and potential in the national motorsport.
In the end Luis said that he would like to"thank the dealer Horacio Garcia da Silva for their support in this race, he was  were tireless and his help was very important and also, all the sponsors that believed in my 2011 Motocross project, including Yamaha, SpeedCity,Polisport, Cetelem, Pirelli, No Fear, Motorex, MXT, Shoei, Ariete, TCX, AQD, Regina, Goldfren and, finally, the energy that Red Bull gives me at every race ... "

The next challenge will be the presence at MX World Championship round to be held in Agueda on 11th and 12th June, where the Correia will try to get the best result among the world's best pilots with his Yamaha YZ450F.

MX1 Championship: 1st Luis Correia, Yamaha (247 points), 2nd Sandro Marcos, Suzuki (206 points), 3rd Hugo Basaula - Kawasaki (191 points) ...

Elite League: 1st Luis Correia, Yamaha (125 points), 2nd Sandro Marcos, Suzuki (102 points), 3rd Hugo Basaula - Kawasaki (84 points) ...
