Luis Correia speaks up
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, we found Luis Correia training in a motocross track near Coruche where a pre season test was conducted which was attended by most national MX riders, taking the opportunity to train and test their machines for the 2011 racing season. The Yamaha rider chatted with us as we learn more about what is planned for the near future:

Good afternoon Luis, finding you here on a sand track, which we know is a type of terrain of your choice, is it a good sign that you are already in shape ...

Well, I'm still far from ideal physical shape, we are in full pre-season and I've been dedicated to physical training and preparing my YZ 450F, and to be in good conditions in March, at which point they will start the Championship Motocross. This race was a great, as it allowed me, in an race atmosphere,  to test the bike and some materials and equipment.

Last year you had a great season with two national championships and some good results internationally. What are your plans for 2011?

Yes, 2010 was a very good year for me. In 2011, I will continue with my sporting project at the National Motocross, with the aim of retaining the title Elite. I will also participate in some international events: the world championships in the MX1 and MX3 class. In addition, I will try to do some Enduro races, a sport in which I also love to compete.

How do you get your motivation to win a championship where you have proved many times that you are one of the best?

My motivation comes above all, from my passion for riding a bike, what motivates me is to try to achieve the perfect race: to find the perfect line, the best way to turn, the perfect jump and knowing that we always have a lot to evolve and for that we must continue to work, always!

Last year you participated in the Off Road Rally Estoril - Portimão - Marrakech. It is an experience to repeat?

I really wanted to try a Off Road Rally and the Estoril - Portimão - Marrakech was an excellent opportunity to see if I could ride  the bike while navigating the "emptiness" that is the desert, I really liked and enjoyed it. In the future maybe I will participate in an international rally.

Do you want to leave a message for those who will read this little conversation?

I want to thank all the sponsors who believed in my project and made it possible to continue in riding and those all who support me and follow my career because they are always an extra motivation for my results. Motocross has everything to to be a high level sport in our country and with the help and participation of all - public, organizations and federation - we can make it a great show!
