  • How do I do the maintenance of my baby seat?

    To keep the baby seat in good working order and to prevent accidents we recommend the following:

    o    Regularly check the mounting system of the bicycle seat in order to make sure it is in perfect condition.

    o    Check all the components to ensure that they work properly. Do not use the seat if any of the components are damaged. Damaged components must be replaced.

    o    Clean the seat with soap and water (do not use abrasive, corrosive or toxic products).

  • Safety Instructions and Warnings "To use the Baby Seat"?

    • o    The rider must be at least 16 years of age;

      o    The CFS model baby seat is only suitable for transporting children with a maximum weight of 48.5 lbs / 22 kg, with an age limit of 5 years. Check the child’s weight regularly and do not carry a child that weighs more than this.

      o    Do not carry a child less than 12 months old in this baby seat. To be a passenger, the child must be able to sit up straight with the head held upright while wearing a bicycle helmet. A doctor should be consulted if the child’s growth is in question.

      o    For safety reasons the seat must be fitted only to luggage carriers that conform with EN14872.

      o    Check that all parts of the bicycle function correctly with the baby seat mounted.

      o    Do not install the baby seat on a racing bicycle (drop handlebar).

      o    Secure the child on the baby seat ensuring that all the safety belts and straps are firmly applied but not so tight as to cause discomfort to the child.

      o    Make sure the seat stays slightly reclined towards the back and not towards the front  to prevent the child from slipping.

      o    The baby seat must never be used before adjusting the safety belt.

      o    Do not allow any part of the child’s body or clothing, shoelaces, baby seat belts, etc. to come into contact with moving parts of the bicycle since that could be harmful to the child or cause accidents.

      o    A wheel protector is recommended to prevent the child from inserting its feet or hands between the spokes. The use of protection underneath the saddle or the use of a saddle with internal springs is mandatory. Make certain that the child is not able to interfere with the brakes, thus avoiding accidents. These adjustments should be revised as the child grows.

      o    Dress the child with proper clothes according to weather conditions and use an appropriate helmet.

      o    When the baby seat is not in use, fasten the waist buckle of the security harness to prevent the straps from dangling and coming into contact with any moving part of the bicycle such as wheels, brakes, etc. as these may become a hazard to the cyclist.

      o    Do not attach additional luggage to the child carrier.

      o    Do not modify the seat.

      o    If you carry additional luggage its weight must not exceed the bicycle’s carrying capacity and it must be carried in front of the rider.

      o    Never leave the cycle parked unattended with a child in the seat.

      o    Check the screws regularly and replace any when required.

      o    Do not use the seat if any part is broken.

      o    The position of the baby seat must be adjusted so that the bicycle rider does not touch the baby seat with the feet when in motion.

      o    The weight of the rider and the child carried must never be more than the maximum load allowed for the bicycle. Check the bicycle instructions manual from the bicycle supplier to make sure that the bicycle can support the additional load.

      o    You must cover any sharp or pointed objects on the bicycle that may be within reach of the child.

      o    The seat and cushion can get hot after long exposure to the sun. Make sure that they are not too hot before seating the child.

      o    When transporting the bike on luggage racks or bicycle racks on the car roof or boot door, always take the child seat off the bike. The drag could damage it or tear it off.

      o    Check that the seat is functioning correctly when mounted.

      o    Check the laws and regulations in force in your country, as they relate to carrying children in seats attached to bicycles.

Products - Helmets

  • How do I make sure my bike helmet fits properly?

    To work properly, a bike helmet must fit correctly and be worn properly.

    Sizing your helmet

    In order to determine the size you need, you need to measure the circumference of your head.

    Simply wrap a measuring tape around your head, being sure to locate the tape just above your ears and keeping the tape level front to back.

    Once you’ve determined the proper size, you can check to make sure the helmet fits correctly.

    If the helmet you own now doesn’t fit on your head with just a little space between your head and the headband when the fit system is loose, you should replace it with one that does.

    You should always wear the helmet positioned low enough in the front to protect your forehead, but not so low as to hinder your vision.

  • Can I paint or modify my helmet?

    Polisport does not recommend that paints or solvents of any kind be used on helmets as they can cause damage and significantly reduce the helmet’s protective properties.

    You should not under any circumstances remove or modify any components that are part of this product.

    Such practice, besides representing a serious risk to the safety of the user, will nullify all Polisport guarantees.

  • How do I fit my helmet?

    The helmet must be adapted to the user’s head. Select the right helmet by trying on several sizes, and choose the size that feels most comfortable and secure according to the form and structure of the head.

    Start by putting the helmet on your head in such a way that the front and back of the helmet are at the same level and parallel to the floor.

    When the helmet is fitted perpendicularly to your head, the front and rear straps must be at the same level (check level of the passers - located immediately under your ears).

    If the belts are not at the same level, they may be adjusted by pulling them through the rear of the helmet.

    To adjust the length of the belts, slide the belt that needs to be adjusted, up or down, until it reaches the correct position.

    Any slack can be taken up using the buckle.

    Attention

    1.     The straps must not cover your ears;

    2.     The buckle must be away from the chin bone;

    3.     The ends of the straps must be fastened to the rubber rings;

    To ensure that the straps are correctly adjusted, try to remove the helmet from the front and from the back of the head.

    If it slides to the front, adjust the rear straps.

    If it slides to the back, adjust the front straps.

    Adjust the interior diameter of your helmet using the adaptor in your helmet.

    Start by opening the adaptor system, put the helmet on your head and close and adjust the system.

    To ensure that the system is correctly adjusted, shake your head slightly with the retention system open - the helmet should not fall from your head.

     MA1?I suggest that this clause be deleted.

  • How often should a helmet be replaced?

    Polisport recommends that you replaceg your helmet every three (3) years.

  • What do I do if my helmet becomes damaged?

    If the helmet is visibly damaged (cracked outer shell, crushed or cracked foam liner or any other damage) do not use it.

    Some or all of the helmet’s protective capacity is lost after any impact, and the damage to a helmet is not always visible.

  • How do I store my helmet?

    After each use, allow the helmet to air dry and then store it in a cool, dry place where it won’t get damaged.

    Note that excessive heat can damage your helmet.

    For example, in direct sunlight a dark gear bag, the interior of a car, or an automobile trunk can get hot enough to cause heat damage (damaged helmets will appear to have uneven or bubbly surfaces). Therefore, when not being used for a period of time we recommend that the helmet be placed back into its box or case and stored in a cool, dry place.

  • Do Polisport helmets comply with relevant standards?

    Polisport helmets are tested and approved according to European Norm EN 1078:2012 - "Helmets for pedal cyclists and for users of skateboards and roller skates."

    They are designed only for the purposes mentioned above and, in particular, must not be used in motor sports or when riding motorcycles.

  • I´ve crashed my helmet - What should i do?

    Any helmet subjected to an impact must be disposed of and replaced even if it does not show any visible damage as its absorption capacity might have been been diminished.

    In any case, helmets must be replaced at the end of three years from the date of production or when they no longer fit.

  • Will the helmet save my life?

    No helmet can protect the user against all possible accidents (including those involving bicycle collisions with motor vehicles).

    Even accidents at low speed may result in serious injuries to the head or even death.

    The helmets are designed to protect the head and reduce the risk of cervical or backbone injuries and any other physical injuries resulting from an accident; please obey all traffic rules in order to reduce the risk of accidents.

  • How do I clean and maintain my helmet?

    o    After each use, allow the helmet to air dry and then store it in a cool, dry place where it won’t get damaged.

    o    Note that excessive heat can damage your helmet. For example, in direct sunlight a dark gear bag, the interior of a car, or an automobile trunk can get hot enough to cause heat damage (damaged helmets will appear to have uneven or bubbly surfaces). Therefore, when not being used for a period of time we recommend that the helmet to be placed back into its box or case and stored in a cool, dry place.

    o    The maximum temperature that the helmet may be exposed to is 50ºC (112ºF);

    o    The helmet must be cleaned only with water and a soft cloth. The use or application of sprays or cleaning agents, chemical substances (including ammonia) and solvents, may result in the degradation of the characteristics of the helmet (and in the loss of the guarantee).
