The best way to fix a puncture is to replace the punctured inner tube instead of repairing it. Carrying a spare inner tube, a set of tire levers and a pump is essential for a good bike ride.
The bottom of the seat stays tightly attached to the carrier which is also firmly attached to the frame. This solution increases stability which is important for the rider.
Whether
you bike for general fitness, go on long training rides or commute to
work everyday by bicycle, you probably have the proper gear to protect
you from the elements. Your wet-weather gear won't protect you from
wheel spray, however, which the front wheel can spit into your eyes and
the rear wheel can send up your backside. Wheel spray isn't clean --- it
can be a mix of dirt, sand, salt and gasoline residues. A clip-on
fender is a simple solution to prevent rear wheel spray from reaching
you, but a pair of full fenders will protect your face as well
Bicycle Protection
The
level of protection a full set of fenders gives your bike may be of
more importance to you than keeping yourself clean, especially if you
have an expensive or otherwise cherished bike. That same grimy water
that hits your back also coats your chain, brakes, derailleur and
headset if you don't use fenders. Riders whose fender-less bikes see a
lot of wet riding must replace their headsets regularly, according to
the Adventure Cycling Association, whereas those who use fenders rarely
have headset problems.
Less Maintenance
The
bike protection provided by fenders goes hand-in-hand with reduced time
spent maintaining your chain, derailleur, brakes, headset and frame.
This is especially true if you ride during the winter months or live in
an area that gets a lot of rain. One or two wet rides here and there
isn't going to harm the components of your bike. When a bike without
fenders frequently experiences wet rides, however, you need to wipe it
down thoroughly and re-grease the chain after nearly every ride. Use of
full fenders drastically cuts down on the amount of grime that reaches
the components and frame, and consequently reduces time spent on daily
maintenance.
Continued Riding
A
pair of bicycle fenders can allow you to remain active, whether that
means you choose to ride to work when it's sprinkling instead of driving
your car, or you begin a ride just after the passing of a rainstorm,
when the pavement is full of puddles. Not having to spend time doing
laundry or thoroughly cleaning your bike after a ride can be as
motivating as staying in shape or saving on gas.
