Ecopista da Linha do Tâmega é candidata ao 5th European Greenways Award 2011
O Município de Amarante candidatou, recentemente, a Ecopista da Linha do Tâmega, ao 5th European Greenways Award (5º Prémio Europeu de Ecovias), instituído, em 2003, pela Associação Europeia de Ecovias, criada (em 1998) com o objectivo de realizar um inventário das ecovias, incentivar a sua implementação e estabelecer, a longo prazo, uma rede europeia.
De periodicidade bienal, o European Greenways Award promove exemplos das melhores práticas, destacando a integração das características que melhor definem o conceito de ecovias, designadamente a oferta de vias de comunicação reservadas exclusivamente a deslocações não motorizadas, em condições de conforto, segurança e acessibilidade e destinadas a todas as pessoas (a pé, de bicicleta, patins, cadeira de rodas e similares).
Composto por representantes de instituições europeias e internacionais, o júri irá seleccionar os vencedores, da edição 2011, nas categorias de Prémio de Excelência e de Iniciativas Exemplares.
Na primeira categoria, serão entregues prémios a três ecovias que melhor traduzam o conceito subjacente à infra-estrutura e, ao mesmo tempo, demonstrem pontos fortes peculiares.
Na categoria de Iniciativas Exemplares, o primeiro, segundo e terceiro prémios serão entregues a iniciativas consideradas exemplares em diversas vertentes, nomeadamente instalação, gestão e manutenção (das ecovias), actividades desenvolvidas e respectiva promoção.
Os vencedores serão conhecidos a 8 de Setembro próximo e irão receber um diploma e um troféu simbolizadores dos objectivos seguidos pela Associação Europeia de Ecovias, beneficiando, ainda, de publicidade e divulgação, figurando como exemplos de boas práticas e Know-how, a nível europeu.
A Ecopista da Linha do Tâmega, inaugurada a 30 de Abril, tem suscitado uma grande adesão por parte de residentes e não residentes, de todas as faixas etárias, uma realidade que não passou despercebida à Caravana Visão que, recentemente, passou por Amarante, percorreu o troço (em bicicleta) e divulgou o seu testemunho (http://aeiou.visao.pt/onde-antes-eram-comboios=f605910).
